Re: Extras – who needs them?
Usually I don't care much for extras on the big studios' releases because they are more often than not just as said, promotional fluff, without anything beyond the superficial hype to offer for the film aficionados but with the smaller, more dedicated distributors like Arrow, Shout! Factory ...

Cobra (UK Blu) - Far from Sly's best, yet still an enjoyable little film with some hilariously hammy dialogue. 6/10
Far from Sly's best indeed but still a shame the nearly twice as long workprint version has never been released officially, even as a bonus feature like some other similar 80s ...

Re: Star Trek Into Darkness Best Buy
It annoys me so much when distributors do this and split up the extras across several different retailers and various playback formats. Besides the Best Buy and Target exclusives, the extensive ~160 min video commentary track is an iTunes exclusive, in addition for also exclusively featuring the ...

Re: Cheapest source for Brazil releases?
That's good to hear. Considering it's been OOP for a long time and nearly impossible to get for a reasonable price these days and first of all thanks to you reminding me of its existence again, I'm now considering to get a similar filing cabinet custom-made with a few carpenter friends. Shouldn't ...

Re: Cheapest source for Brazil releases?
I've never bought any Brazilian releases from Brazil.. only a few DVDs long ago from a domestic auction site. :( Would be interested in getting some tho.

The flash sale had some great titles, tho I already had all the ones I would have wanted so didn't grab anything.
As for the forthcoming titles, lots of interesting ones there. More Vincent Price classics is never a bad thing and Delta Force is one of my fav Norris flicks.

Re: Ultraviolet!
Yup, I added the CE set soon after I had bought it. I have always enjoyed the series and it's a shame indeed they used the same dated transfer from the previous release or at least one very close to it; don't have the older one to compare side by side. Kind of lame not to create a new anamorphic ...

Re: DVD/Blu-ray annoyances?
One, admittedly not really important, annoyance is some, mainly US, DVDs have the plastic wrapper glued to the spine of the keep case, resulting in an ugly and uneven surface.
Oh I have come across this issue so many times and have replaced dozens of cases to get nice looking spines. The flakey ...

Re: DVD/Blu-ray annoyances?
That is annoying indeed. Even the Dutch and Germans who used to have forced subs on nearly every dvd, rarely have forced subs in their releases these days. Some do but for the amount I've come across recently, they are in the minority.

Re: What did you watch today?
Yes, they're there. I noticed most of the longer IMAX sequences right away during the first time I was watching the film years ago.
From what I recall, at least the opening bank heist, convoy chase, Rachel's death and the ending sequence leading to the end titles were filmed completely in IMAX, then ...

Indeed. Tho I haven't even checked the DVD disc of the EFNY combo yet so wasn't paying much attention to that. I still do have the old SE DVD  .

My top10 annoyances, more or less all have been said already but I'll revisit anyway.
1. DNR overkill .
- Too many fantastic films have been ruined by overuse of DNR, especially for grain removal, and this practice won't end because majority of people just love how their favourite films now look ...

Re: CSI Miami Season 3, ep. 16 "Nothing to Lose"
Don't worry about it if you can't be bothered to look for the UK set. I'll put this season on hold for now and will advance with other seasons in the meantime until I've got some sort of info why we got a different version of the episode than the rest of the world apparently. Pan Vision and many ...

CSI Miami Season 3, ep. 16 "Nothing to Lose"
I'm currently writing down specs for Miami's third season (DVD) to be added soon, included will be at least Scandinavian, US and German releases, possibly Dutch too if I can find a detailed enough a review showing where some of the specific extras are located (they might not be quite on the same ...
