Justice League 3D - Not at Marvel's level but this was not as bad as some make it out to be 8/10

Happy Family - Went to see this with my brothers kids. Animation was excellent but story not so much. Kids liked it tho. 5/10

Re: In Theatres
Murder on the Orient Express - I'm really surprised at the mediocre reviews on this one. Yeah, the script isn't as tight as the Lumet version, but Brannagh is a great Poirot, and the soft humour was well aligned. 4/5

Re: In Theatres
Daddy's Home 2 - Pretty poor with funny moments few and far between. Gibson and Lithgow were perfect for their characters, but the material was too poor for them to shine. 2/5

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle - Great update of a childhood classic. Perfectly cast and I loved the sort of Breakfast Club spin it has to it. One of the most pleasant surprises of the year. 4/5

Re: In Theatres
At first I thought I'll go and see it in IMAX (make it my first IMAX film), but all normal times were sold out and midnight screenings had only shitty seats left. So went with regular 3D, plus I had a free ticket. 12:15 screening on Friday ... only me and 12 other people in 500 seat hall Later screenings were sold out tho.

Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi 3D, easily the most anticipated movie of the year and it's hard to discuss this movie without spoilers, so I'll go with what Ain_Uussaar said - "There were some little things I didn't like but over all it was very good". I'd give it an 8/10.
Samir: You know there's nothing wrong with that name.
Michael Bolton: There was nothing wrong with it... until I was about 12 years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys. (Office Space)

Re: In Theatres
After many many years I was lured back to cinemas and got to see 44 films in 2017 ... overall I liked 2017, there were some good ones I missed and some bad ones I'm glad I missed. I hope 2018 will be as good or better.
HAPPY NEW FILM YEAR !

Re: In Theatres
The Shape of Water - I've been eager to see this film since I heard about it earlier in the year and throughout the film's festival circuit, finally got the chance to check it out today and boy was it incredible! Guillermo Del Toro has done a spectacular job with this passion project film. Everything from the story, to the casting, performances, production design, make-up effects, it all worked. It was a masterpiece of storytelling, highly recommended and I think easily the best movie of the year - 10/10.

Re: In Theatres
Finally saw this and going to agree with both Noor and Ain. A solid 4/5 and not as good as The Force Awakens, but really setting the scene for whatever comes next.Noor_Razzak wrote:Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi 3D, easily the most anticipated movie of the year and it's hard to discuss this movie without spoilers, so I'll go with what Ain_Uussaar said - "There were some little things I didn't like but over all it was very good". Re: In Theatres
Molly's Game - Aaron Sorkin delivers his first feature film directing effort and it was a knockout. Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba had perfect chemistry and delivered incredible performances in what ended up being a riveting 140 minutes. I knew very little of Molly Bloom's story and I was hooked from start to finish, I suppose that was a good thing going in. Highly recommended 9/10.

Re: In Theatres
First visit to cinema this year and saw two films:
Molly's Game - Very entertaining story. Aaron Sorkin has made a very nice directorial debut. Cast was very good too. Not sure about the jumps in time. 8/10
The Commuter - Some unneeded bits, some unanswered bits in the end but overall ... not bad, not bad at all. 7/10
Nice start to the year. Right now have plans to see four films tomorrow.

Re: In Theatres
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri - There's been a lot of controversy surrounding Sam Rockwell's character, a racist cop whom is redeemed at the end, the film's director doesn't agree with the redemption but that the problem is much larger than simply making him likeable. It's hard to comment further without spoiling the film's third act, so I'll simply say that in the end Rockwell is still the same guy, a racist bigot in that respect nothing has changed. Overall the film is quite complex given it's simple premise. The performances are terrific, the score, photography, and editing are exceptionally crafted. There are some moments that are crass for the sake of being crass, and do, for a moment pull you out of the film, I suppose that's Martin McDonagh's style. 8.5/10.
