Mr. & Mrs. Smith (1941) UPDATED

Post by Brent_Reid »

Beaver for US DVD: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDReview ... review.htm

The Warner DVDs are the only ones mastered from original pre-print materials; this is also the transfer on Warners streaming copies.
All other DVDs have transfers of theatrical prints.
Warner's BD features an exclusive 4k restoration, unavailable on streaming anywhere.

Amend footnote to match one on Foreign Correspondent; Rebecca's DVD footnote needs editing too.

Like all other American Hitchcocks, it's been much-bootlegged but not by the PD labels specified, who actually bootlegged his British films. The footnote on all American Hitchcock BDs and DVDs should simply say:

Note that this film and other early Alfred Hitchcock titles have been released in many bootleg editions, and these unlicensed, supposedly "public domain" releases should all be avoided. Information regarding the copyright status of his films can be found at Brenton Film's Alfred Hitchcock: Dial C for Copyright. Hitchcock's films and their official releases are also covered in detail at Brenton Film's Alfred Hitchcock Collectors Guide.

I'm unaware of any bootlegs of 4k Hitchcocks, so far...

Updated Rebecca and Mr and Mrs Smith DVD pages.
I didn't add the note to the Mr and Mrs Smith Blu-ray page as there doesn't seem to be any instances of bootlegs of it.

Thanks, James, although Smith does have plenty of BD and DVD boots; I listed a few of them here: https://www.brentonfilm.com/alfred-hitc ... gh%20fewer
